Many Thanks to the Shackleton Foundation!

We're thrilled to announce that Lindsey has been chosen for The Shackleton Leadership Award. The Foundation invests in inspirational leaders and early-stage social enterprises with the potential to make a real difference to the lives of disadvantaged young people. They provide up to £10,000 of seed funding and support to enable aspiring leaders and social entrepreneurs to establish their own ventures to help young people in challenging circumstances. They look for long-lasting, far-reaching projects with the potential to provide solutions to intractable social problems faced by disadvantaged and socially marginalised young people. They understand social entrepreneurship as referring to the development of new models or approaches to social problems, with significant potential for breakthrough social impact.

True to the spirit of Shackleton himself, they support leaders with high risk, but high potential. These are projects that are often considered too risky for other funders and may struggle to gain funding from traditional sources. They focus support on the people with the ideas, rather than their projects.

Their grant is helping Lindsey to provide two pilot therapeutic retreats, one for care-experienced young people and another for young women who are survivors of trauma. The retreats will provide access to equine assisted therapy, accredited life skills training and the opportunity to train and gain qualifications in animal care and land-based skills.
