Surrounded by moorland and forest, Whisgills Farm stands in the shadow of Tinnis Hill in the beautiful Scottish borders. In addition to miles of beautiful off-road forest trails for hacking, walking or mountain-biking, we have an arena, large yard area, loose boxes and open barn stabling. All of our fields have both man-made and natural shelter. Our horses live out as much as possible in stable herds and have an Equi-central living system that allows them to choose where they would like to spend their time. There are smaller paddocks where horses visiting for physical or behavioural rehab can stay.
Nearby Newcastleton is a surprising hub of activity with an established traditional music festival held in July each year. It has one of the 7stanes mountain biking centres and is on the coast to coast Reivers Cycle Route. There's a range of exciting outdoor activities on offer at Rock UK. Kielder Water and Forest Park is just 30 minutes’ drive for all things water-based. Carlisle, 22 miles away, and Hawick, 25 miles away, have museums, cinemas, restaurants, shops and other retail opportunities.
If you come to stay at Whisgills House for a training course or residential retreat, you will have your own beautifully decorated room within a Georgian farmhouse. There are nine bedrooms in total, three of which have en-suite bathrooms. Our accommodation choices include single self-contained rooms for people who want peace and quiet, a two-bedroom suite with shared bathroom ideal for families with young children and an accessible ground floor bedroom and bathroom. Downstairs, there are two communal rooms: a sitting room and a library as well as a kitchen. Accomodation is self-catering but when in season, we provide nutritious local ingredients for sale which often includes vegetables grown on site and free range eggs from our own ducks and ex-battery chickens.
